Posted May 7, 2022. I had a similar (maybe the same) problem on my daughters 2012 1.0 Ecoboost. In addition to the strainers in the oil pump and pressure control valve there is another one in the oil feed passage to the Turbo. To correctly remove this filter it's necessary to remove the timing belt cover, unscrew a plug in the engine block

On a MK3/MK3.5 1.0 ECOboost a defective catalytic converter is quite common. Especially when low quality or low octane fuel is used. There is a huge chance that the problem will come back sooner or later. 1.
Hopefully Dirtbag is correct. All I can say about the turbo with my 1.0 Focus is that the turbo is working/in boost CONSTANTLY!!! Now that I have my tablet and Torque Pro hooked up, I can see the boost in real time. This turbo is working non stop at high psi and wouldn't surprise me if there are issues down the road.
The three pipes are Vent, Turbo Actuator, Vacuum pump. (Your loose pipe is the vent, as you say.) The Actuator can be connected to either Vent or Pump, depending whether the valve is energised or not. I think vacuum puts the turbo into low / no boost condition, and then allowing air in via the vent puts it into boost condition.
