20 posts · Joined 2008. #7 · Apr 16, 2009. Dear all. Reverse gear update, Well just had the car back from 1st service and warranty work including a further investigation into reverse selection problems. Response from Kia : Inherent fault with the Ceed, as yet nothing they can do to resolve.
Original Kia aluminium seal rings fit well and wont leak. About £1 each. Clean around both plugs prior to removal. Oil type is shown below; Oil tranfer pump is required, from about £10, shown below; Volume and fluid spec required will be in the user manual, 1.9 liters for this car. 1 small plastic cover requires removal from beneath.
The other humming noise could be tyre damage/tracking, or more likely the engine compartment undertray is loose or misaligned (not put back on properly) and vibrating with wind speed. However, if one or more of the following occurs, first check whether the ultrasonic sensor is damaged or blocked with foreign material. If it still does not work properly, Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer/service partner. The audible warning does not sound. The buzzer sounds intermittently.
Hi Alan, I have a 2010 KX2 (21000 miles) with the same symptoms as your car. I took it to the dealer who changed the gearbox oil on the firstvisit with no change to the clunk and then the clutch master cylinder onthe second visitwith still no change. During the summer it is bearable but on cold mornings it is a job to engage 1st and second gears.
This appears to be a pretty common problem on both Kia and Hyundai. Fortunately, the fix is really simple – all you have to do is swap out the TRS. On all these vehicles (Kia Optima, Kia Sorrento, Hyundai Elantra) the TRS is located in the front driver-side quadrant of the engine bay (the bottom-right if you are looking under the hood).
